Library Rules
LIBRARY GUIDELINES
Welcome to your school Library! Enjoy using the library. Our library has a fine collection of books from all genres and is growing. New books have been added this school year in all different subjects and more will be purchased. Since all the personal details of the students and details of books have been transferred to a computer in the library, here are some guidelines and general rules that will help you to use the library better.
1. School ID Card:
- You will need to take with you the student ID card each time you visit the library. In case of misuse of ID card, you will be held responsible for it. Replacement of ID card, if lost, will be made after receiving the payment for the same. The student ID acts as a library card; there is no separate library card issued.
2. Book Issue System:
- To have the library books issued out, a student should sign the Book Card and hand it over to the librarian along with the student ID card.
3. Overdue Books
- Each student would be issued two books at a time for a period of seven days. Books borrowed from the library are to be returned on or before the due date (7 days).
- An overdue charge of Rs. 10 per day shall be charged against each book not returned within the due date. A fine is also charged for lost or damaged books or damaged bar codes on books. Absence is not accepted as excuse for non-payment of overdue charge.
- Staff members would be issued maximum five books at a time for a maximum period of one month.
- Every month, a student due list will be put up on the school notice board for the information of overdue students.
4. Grades:
- It is particularly important for students to keep a clear library record. Students with overdue, lost books or misbehavior in the library may score negative grades.
5. Library Behavior:
- Only one student at a time is to be at the issue counter for the efficient service of the librarian and to avoid confusion.
- Silence and strict discipline should be maintained in the library by all the students. Every student shall ensure that no reader should feel disturbed in their study by any act of his/her.
- Use of eatables in the library is strictly prohibited. Utmost care shall be taken by all to keep the library clean.
- Students must not lend their ID card to any other student to borrow books from the library. Library facilities will be withdrawn from students misusing cards.
- Reference Books, New Arrivals and Periodicals should not be taken out of the library.
- Students should replace the magazines on the stand from where they have picked it up.
- It is the duty of the class leaders from each class to replace the books, magazines, and chairs in their respective places when you leave after your library period.
- All the school rules are applicable in the library also.
6. Care of Library Materials:
- Library books, journals and other reading/reference materials are expensive and often rare to replace. They are for the benefit of not only the present but also the future members of the library. Therefore, they should be used with care and consideration. No one should write upon, damage, remove the barcode, turn down the leaves of, or mark upon any library material.
7. Library Timings:
- The library functions from 20 minutes before the teacher's prayer in the morning every day during working days. (The library remains open during first and second recess, also for transactions)
N.B.: Your student ID card is required for any transaction in the library.
